Pop Up Shop - Chapter One
Our first pop-up at Que's In & Out Barbershop wasn't just about serving food—it was about introducing Birmingham to the Sweetie Heatie experience. From the first order to the last smile, this day reminded us why we started. Watch the moments that sparked the heat.
Day 10: Expect the Unexpected (Or Try)
📍Event: Que's In & Out Barbershop Pop-Up Shop
📅 Date: July 18, 2026
🎥 Video: Day 10 – Learning How to Run My First Food Truck
📖 Lesson Learned: Expect the Unexpected. We hoped for a good turnout, but the community exceeded every expectation. We even sold completely out of fries—a lesson we'll never forget!
❤️ Biggest Win: Hosting our first official Sweetie Heatie pop-up and seeing the neighborhood show up in a way that gave us confidence we were building something special.
📈 Next Goal: Be better prepared for larger crowds, improve inventory planning, and continue creating unforgettable community pop-up experiences.
🎥 Watch Day 10 as Sweetie Heatie hosts its first official neighborhood pop-up at Que's In & Out Barbershop.
By the time we rolled into Que's In & Out Barbershop, we had already served at a few events. We'd worked Juneteenth, participated in smaller community events like Rails & Ales, and even completed our first corporate lunch. But this day felt different.
This wasn't a festival with built-in crowds or a company that had already invited us.
This was our pop-up.
We picked a neighborhood barbershop, spread the word, and simply hoped people would show up. There were no guarantees—just a food truck, a hardworking team, and a belief that if people tried our food, they'd come back.
Then something amazing happened.
The line kept growing.
Customers told their friends. Families stopped by. People who had never heard of Sweetie Heatie became loyal supporters in a single afternoon. Before we knew it, we had completely sold out of fries.
Out of everything we thought we'd need more of, fries weren't at the top of the list. That moment taught us one of the most valuable lessons we've learned so far: always expect the unexpected. When your community shows up for you, you have to be ready for it.
By the end of the day, we weren't just celebrating strong sales—we were celebrating proof that people would support Sweetie Heatie because they believed in what we were building.
That pop-up gave us more than a successful day.
It gave us confidence that we could create our own opportunities, bring people together, and build a loyal community one event at a time.
