The Story

Everyone remembers their first.

For us, it was the Juneteenth Community Celebration.

This wasn't a practice run or a family gathering. This was our very first official public event—the first time strangers would experience Sweetie Heatie.

We didn't know exactly what to expect.

Would people like the food?
Would our point-of-sale system work?
Would our team communicate well under pressure?
Would all of the months of planning finally come together?

There were plenty of nervous moments, but there was something even bigger than the nerves—excitement.

This event was the first real test of everything we'd been building behind the scenes. From taking orders and preparing food to working together as one team, every interaction taught us something new.

By the end of the day, we didn't just gain experience.

We gained confidence.

Juneteenth proved that Sweetie Heatie wasn't just an idea anymore. It was a real business serving real customers.

That single day set the tone for everything that followed. It gave us the motivation to keep improving, keep learning, and keep believing that this dream could become something much bigger than we imagined.

Every event since then has built on the foundation we created that day.
